Move It Storage to Discuss Disaster Preparedness at Texas Self Storage Association Virtual Conference
Dallas-Based Company to Share Experiences and Learning to Aid Industry Colleagues
DALLAS, Oct. 12, 2020 – Move It Storage, a leading company in the self-storage industry, will share lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and hurricane response during the upcoming Texas Self Storage Association virtual conference on October 13.
Move It President Tim Springer will host a panel that will discuss readiness for everything from pandemics to fires and floods. Katie Cowen, Jesse Munoz, and Tom Maxfield will also join from the Move It team. The panel will share information on how to address common issues following the impact of the crisis or disaster; how to communicate with your staff and tenants to provide a level of comfort; where your liability ends and your tenants’ insurance begins; and, how you can rebuild your reputation after recovery.
“Unfortunately, we’ve had a lot of recent experience preparing, weathering, and responding to disaster-type events throughout the Move It portfolio,” said Springer. “There are several practical steps than other self-storage operators can take to prepare and to communicate—internally and externally—before, during, and after a disaster event that will reduce risk, improve customer goodwill, and get them back in business. We’re looking forward to discussing in a roundtable format.”
Move It was invited to present on these topics following an article featuring Move It’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic in April 2020 appearing in the September/October 2020 edition of the Self-Storage News, the official magazine of the Texas Self Storage Association. As described by the article, “[w]ith a mix of information, inspiration and humor, Move It Storage[] . . . offered a means of keeping the company’s
team more unified and less agitated during a crummy time.” See full article here.
